Where are you from?
I am from Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Why did you want to become a Photographer?
I went to art school and worked as an art director in advertising for over 15 years – I’ve always been creative, and I love to create. There are several reasons for me switching to nature photography; I love nature and the outdoors, I wanted to spend more time outside instead of in an office, I wanted to be my own boss, and I wanted to travel. Life is too short to be doing stuff you don’t like.
Why did you choose this particular shot to be your favorite photograph?
It is the only photograph in the world that features an elephant so close to the edge of Victoria Falls. Many millions of photographs have been shot here, but this one is unique. It is also the perfect example of what I look for in my photography – my ideal wildlife shot is a spectacular landscape shot with an animal in it as a bonus. The horizontal version was published as a double page spread in National Geographic.
