Where are you from?
Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
Why did you want to become a Photographer?
From the very beginning, I was fortunate to have parents that exposed me to nature and took me traveling frequently. As I got older, photography seemed the perfect way to capture those memories. Eventually, my hobby became a profession.
Why did you choose this particular shot to be your favorite photograph?
This was one of the first times where everything came together for me. I scouted the location, pre-visualized an image in my mind, and made it happen. I busted my hump climbing all over the dunes looking for an image to make. I’d been to Great Sand Dunes National Park many times before (and since) and had never gotten clouds coming in from the East at sunset like I did this time. To have all that work pay off was a real thrill. Incidentally, this image has become one of the most popular ones I’ve ever made. Also, I have a essay that was published on NPN detailing my trials and tribulations on those dunes. (http://www.naturephotographers.net/articles0112/kl0112-1.html)
