Where are you from?
I’m from Kiev, Ukraine and I currently live in the Philippines
Why did you want to become a Photographer?
I never wanted to become a photographer, it happened by chance. I lived in Japan and the beauty around me was so overwhelming that I decided to try to learn to photograph it. It was all very amateur with no proper photo education. But the moment I started I did not know how to stop. I found an explanation to it in the “story telling” inclination of mine. Not verbal but conceptual. In fact I’m a marketing professional who has drastically changed the career path to photography with a short stop at whimsical knitwear design. After all these three activities are united by the skill to tell the story, whether it’s through a brand legend, a piece of wearable garment or a photograph that “can tell a thousand words”.
Why did you choose this particular shot to be your favorite photograph?
This is a kind of lucky shot (as all good animal shots are, you just need to be there long enough, be very observing and ready to shoot any moment) but it’s shots like this that make me get up at 4am, freeze myself for hours, get wet under a snow fall or rain, faint in tropical heat etc. I love recreating emotions in studio or portrait photography but this is just better than anything I can ever come up with. It’s so true and touching and philosophical at the same time. And I hope you can see their story:)
