Where are you from?
I’m originally from Athens, Greece.
Why did you want to become a Photographer?
I have been dabbling with cameras since my early twenties. I also enjoy being outdoors. A few years ago I started seeing Photography as the means to express my need to be close to nature and the outdoors. I do believe that the connection with the natural world is essential for our sense of balance and inner peace. My need to express this connection coupled with a long lasting interest in photography naturally led me to landscape photography.
Why did you choose this particular shot to be your favorite photograph?
The image contrasts a red and a green (“coloured” by green algae) boulder at the peaceful cove of Skoutari, Mani, Greece. This is one my first successful images deliberately made with the goals stated in my previous answer, in mind. It has been included in the book “Developing Vision and Style” published a few years ago in the UK. It’s a favourite of mine because it essentially showed me the way to the kind of images I wanted to create.
Anything else you want to add?
People frequently ask me why I never include people in my photographs. A favourite quote from Ansel Adams always comes in mind: There are always two people in every picture: the photographer and the viewer.
