Where are you from?
Born in Seattle, USA.
Why did you want to become a Photographer?
I’m not sure really why I ended up so focused on photography. I used to draw all the time as a kid but stopped after high school – right around the time I picked up on photography seriously I guess. I think it allowed me a more flexible artistic outlet with the advent of the digital age. Having been interested in the outdoors and hiking (and particularly hunting down waterfalls) since I was a kid, my interests all sort of congealed to landscape photography rather well.
Why did you choose this particular shot to be your favorite photograph?
This was my first time in an area of Washington’ Alpine Lakes Wilderness called The Enchantments, which is covered head to toe with Golden Larch in the autumn months. Waking up this particular morning and seeing the light striking the trees like this, with the reflection so perfectly calm was just surreal. A lot of my work up to this point I’ve relied on dramatic light in the sky to add necessary “punch” to a shot, but this was the first one I can remember taking where the light on the land alone was the deciding factor, and it took me about 10 seconds to nominate this one for prime wall space in my home.
