Where are you from?
Sunderland, in the North East of England, though I currently live in London.
Why did you want to become a Photographer?
My passion for photography developed alongside my love of travel; from shooting disposable cameras on family holidays as a child to buying a second hand Yashica rangefinder camera in my early twenties and documenting cityscapes and landscapes in Europe and America. In recent years my inspiration for photography has stemmed from social media discovering the likes of Kevin Russ through Instagram, and i’ve documented my surroundings and travels more than ever. I aim to capture the details in life, in my cityscapes you can find newness in places and objects you may have walked past a hundred times. In my landscapes my close attention to light, texture, colour and finding the finest vantage point imbues even vast scenes with a great intimacy.
Why did you choose this particular shot to be your favorite photograph?
There are many stereotypical photographs of London, but for me this photograph captures a more real London… the old, the new, and the people. I feel this photograph captures a certain romance of London, as well as a sense of loneliness one can feel in this big city.
